Cutting the Corners

I’m pushing on with another small prospective piece in-between a decking and outdoor balustrading job and a stable door and internal shelving job.

This will be a shoe bench, again based on a design by Mike Pekovich. Its all english oak material with progressive width dovetails and little square wedged through tenons. There’ll be some drawers eventually too!

Whilst I'm hoping to find a happy buyer for this one day, I can’t help but be excited to be a temporary custodian! These boards were quarter sawn and feature lots of beautiful medullary ray which will really pop when the finish goes on.

Oh, and meet Maui, our part time workshop dog. Being a pup still, he finds it hard to sleep with me bustling around so to be fair, he spends a lot of time down the road with Mum in her studio. Expect to see more of this little chap as he has a knack for getting up to no good and getting into photos.
