Lights, Boxes, Action!

Just an update on the ‘Sea of clamps’ post.

Here’s the final install in the customers home. In total it’s about 9 square meters of wardrobe and drawers.

The front laminate of the doors is sequentially cut from two adjoining boards with the drawer fronts providing a contrast the the pale flecked birch elsewhere.

It usually boils down to being able to make boxes from sheet material. Boxes that are made to a very exact tolerance, are cut square in every dimension and are sanded and pre-finished before being fixed together.

I had some fun with the LED lights. They are set into a strip with a diffuser over the top and then let into a channel running vertically that I cut at 30 degrees to shine light across and into the back of the cabinet.

Naturally, I didn’t hire a big enough van to take the whole lot in one trip to the clients house, so two trips later and a great deal of sweat and effort - the result was pretty good.

The client wanted hand turned knobs to match the ones from her kitchen and I feel these contrasting walnut beauties were just the thing.

Onto the next!
