Over the finish line

Amazing the difference the ironmongery makes. Oh and a good camera taking close ups. Honestly, its a really nice feeling to actually finish something. I’ve been working on the boat off and on for so long and intermingling occasional days work on other projects for other people. This means that its been too long since I was able bring a project fully over the line.
I’m really happy with the result and its definitely spurred me on to make some more prospective pieces.
It’s only been a recent realisation (late to the party as usual) to fill the time between paid jobs for clients with these prospective piece jobs. This is the stuff I really enjoy making and at this stage, I just have hope that there is somebody out there that values what I’m making and is willing to consider buying it.
It really feels good to have total control over the making process (as daunting as that too can be sometimes) meaning I look forward to the next build and to tackling it entirely as I see fit - using the experience and expertise I’ve mustered so far. Ever the improver, I was once told, “The more you practice, the luckier you get!”. There’s an element of that - but I’ve so far to go to be truly proficient. Like they were proficient in yesteryear. There are not shortcut to these sorts of things, just time on the tools. So bring it on!
